Black Coffee Games is absolutely giddy to announce that Spectrum Open Beta is now here. From this moment forward, Spectrum will be available in its entirety as a forever free TTRPG that is designed to grow and evolve in order to allow any and all users the resources to create and play within any story they wish.

It has been nearly two years since our team of developers burrowed deep underground to live amongst the mole people of hollow earth in order to create what, we hope, will be the first and last TTRPG that you will ever want or need. But this is beta, and over the next several months, there will be holes to fill and bugs to shake out. This is where you enter stage right. We absolutely need your feedback. We are tremendously confident that our understanding of game mechanics are near perfect, but would be foolish to not admit that there is the most infinitesimally small chance that we could, possibly, have missed elements to the system that could benefit from refinement before we make Spectrum available in a printed format.

The release of Spectrum Beta marks Black Coffee Game’s first shot across the bow of “other game companies” as they sharpen their tools for the next round of fleece shearing. And whilst our level of self delusions are colossal, we understand that there is a long, exciting journey ahead if we hope to shift the paradigm.

And don’t think that what we are presenting today represents the limit of our imagination. We already have several content additions in development that we hope to usher out over the coming months.
